JOURNAL:
1) Dear Journal,
Communism is at its end, it does nothing but make us poorer, divided...weaker. The time will come when we are so broken that the Commy leaders will fall. I intend to stop them beforewe are so broken that the pieces do not fit back together. I've started writing some plays to get the people on my side, or at least the ones that haven't seen that Communism is making us worse than ever.
~Vaclav Havel
2)Dear Journal,
I've finished writing "The Garden" and it is already going to be performed. This should get the people thinking about this mess, and we should get more people to our cause for the Committee for the Defense of the Unjustly Prosecuted. I've already been imprisoned about twice but it does not affect my cause and I at all. For example, I'm in jail at this very moment... probably making this my third time so far... but no matter, this will give me more time to work on my next play: "The Memoradum". Until next entry, I'm afraid.
~Vaclav Havel
3)Dear Journal,
I've been writing to my wife, Olga Splichalova, while still in jail from last entry. The Government knows that I am one of the main figures of this revolution and are probably watching me very closely. I will keep fighting, not physically at all, until I die of old age if i have to because being put in jail a few times or being fined cannot break my beliefs of this corrupted government. Back to some work, I've begun thinking of another play, called "The Increased Difficulty of Concentration".... maybe a comedy to keep my spirits up while in this godforsaken place. The last of the struggles should occur soon, this place has felt like a second home to me, but not for long.
~Vaclav Havel
4)Dear Journal,
Triumphant at last, I've been nominated by the Civic Forum to become President. I will accept this, but only if free elections can be held. I've beaten Prime Minister Adamec and finally won the peoples vote. Now that Communism is done, it is time to restore our country as the place it once was. My family probably hasn't felt good to me as they will in the coming days when i come to them as President. I have recieved enough publicity and good impressions that i will be a shoe-in for the voting.
~Vaclav Havel
